NZ Generic

Race 4: (MDN 2YO&UP 1200m)

Tempo: Average

Former Aussie galloper (9) WAILEA was impressive at her NZ debut when narrowly defeated in a fast run 1200m at this course, drawing wide, she worked hard early to get outside lead and stuck on well in 2nd. Blinkers added, now draws the ace marble to control the race, Sam Collett takes the ride.

Suggested Bet: WAILEA

Race 6: (2YO&UP MDN 1400m)

Tempo: Average

Liked the debut of (7) DAIWA EXPLORER at this course last start when run off his feet on a fast early tempo, he hit the line strongly, only getting warm through the line. Yes to 1400m, the lack of tempo expected may see him roll forward from a wide draw and his work at the trials suggest he has race-winning ability. Notable trial performers from the unraced were (18) MADAME KLEPTOMANE and (20) CALYPSO coming through same heat at Avondale. (14) BASSLOCK a 6YO mare by Shocking, showing some ability at Foxton.

Suggested Bet: DAIWA EXPLORER

Race 7: (R65 1400m)

Tempo: Above Average

They will go quick early and give (7) SANT MAURICI a chance to repeat her maiden win trailing a fast speed and well-placed to make the leap. (3) BONNARD will go forward, first-up, watch betting. (1) COUNTRY SALON is best suited by the speed, we know he has a strong finish and has been contesting better races, the problem is he's out of form. (6) LUCKY PENNY can run a race at odds, trial star early in her career, over-racing badly since debuting, shadow roll added had desired effect winning a slow 1340m at Wanganui last start. (5) PERUGIA won a moderate race here last start with the money on, this stronger. (9) LEDHAVEN CASSIE has been racing well but they refuse to lead on her and it's cost her winning chances early in the prep.

Suggested Bet: LUCKY PENNY

Race 8: (R75 1400m)

Tempo: Above Average

The (8) EL JAYCEE is suited back in distance to 1400m which gives her a winning chance to replicate her maiden victory at this course last year. A fast horse with one-speed, she maps to lead at speed with only (3) EXIT LEFT adding pressure, claiming down to 52kg in a race where key opposition are vulnerable on a strong tempo including the favourite (6) CASINO exposed badly in a slick 1200 at Trentham last start, got back and made no impression, money was there to suggest she could win, now up to 1400m which suits, soft draw, Craig Grylls aboard, she will have fans.

Suggested Bet: EL JAYCEE
