Winx’s first daughter Quinceanera will not make it to the racetrack after being retired by Woppitt Bloodstock on veterinary advice on Wednesday.

Debbie Kepitis, who owned a third of Winx, paid $10 million for the Pierro filly at the Inglis Easter Sale in 2024, and she had been in work with Chris Waller. It was the result of a bidding war between Kepitis and American businessman John Stewart of Resolute Racing.

“It was a hard decision, but we had given her more time under veterinary advice, and in the end it was in her best interest not to race,” Kepitis said. “She was always going to have a high profile and attract attention."

“We will give her time to let down and it is likely that she will be covered by a stallion this season."

“We are in no hurry to make that decision and it is a couple of months down track.”

Winx’s Snitzel colt, which was withdrawn from the Easter Sale, continues to recover from injury as well.

“With him it is wait and see how he goes,” Kepitis said. “He is getting the best of care at the farm.”

When she secured Quinceanera at auction, Kepitis was clear about the filly’s long-term future.

"I am privileged to have been able to secure this filly on behalf of my family to be able to hopefully see if she can get to the racetrack," Kepitis said.

"If she can't get to the racetrack, she will be an amazing mum."

"She's Australian forever and she's going to be just fabulous."
