Zoom Queen
Held together but impressive; building strong body of work; very promising debutant.
Pride Of Jenni hit the trial track ahead of her return in Friday night’s Feehan Stakes. She took out the opening trial in emphatic fashion, winning by several lengths. That said, it’s exactly how she trials campaign in, campaign out, so I wouldn’t expect anything less. The real test will come on Friday night when she’s placed under pressure against some of Australia’s best.
Granted, Jimmy Recard has fitness on his side having had two runs this campaign, but he looked outstanding in winning. He settled off the speed before quickening down really well when Jamie Mott asked him to extend. It was the perfect tick-over jump-out and a nice confirmation he’s thriving between runs.
Heat 4 – Intimeofneed (1st)
Good heat overall. Intimeofneed led all the way, running OK time under her own steam. It was a strong piece of work and she looks ready to go to a 62 first up. Ahha Ahha also showed ability, moving to the line strongly just behind the placegetters, while Drone Attack was another who moved well.
Heat 5 – I’mateez (2nd)
This handy 3YO Capitalist colt was terrific on debut last campaign before running midfield in a strong Bendigo maiden. This was his first jump-out this prep and he looked in terrific order, cruising to the line under a big hold to finish second. A very encouraging return.
Heat 8 – Vestas (2nd)
A classy mare on her day, Vestas was given a quiet time early but really let rip late, showing her trademark turn of foot. This was her first jump-out for the campaign, so she may have another to come, but she’s the type who can pick off a handy race when right.
Heat 10 – Zoom Queen (1st)
They tried to hold her together here and she ran only moderate time, but Zoom Queen has now built an impressive body of work across trials and two campaigns. This daughter of Royal Meeting looks a proper debutante and Clint McDonald is lethal when producing one fresh. She’ll be very hard to beat wherever she steps out.
