Heat 3 Playlist Grahame Begg
Heat 4 Thady Quill Clint McDonald
Heat 7 Crown Of Fire Ciaron Maher
Heat 8 Unit Five Ciaron Maher

Heat 3 – Playlist (1st – Grahame Begg)

This mare has always shown terrific talent at the jump-outs. She has had two jump-outs now and is ready to head back to the races on the back of this excellent showing. She sat just off Dreams and ran her down the final 150m under light riding. They posted good time for the morning. Think this mare is city grade during the summer, off-season period.

Heat 4 – Thady Quill (4th – Clint McDonald)

Excels went very well in winning this heat – she’s a very nice filly who will quickly pick off a Maiden this time in. Blackbooked her on December 1.

Thady Quill is a son of Capitalist who has had two jump-outs now. He has settled midfield in each, travelling sweetly. He ran out of room in his first hit-out but had more to offer when running fifth, not beaten far. He again worked to the line strongly on Monday. He looks like a horse that can go out and win a Maiden on debut.

Heat 7 – Crown Of Fire (1st – Ciaron Maher)

Unraced 2yo daughter of Too Darn Hot who looks ready to go to the races. Had a very quiet jump-out here on December 1, before ramping it up on Monday. She put herself on speed under Jamie Melham and ran good time in winning. Noteworthy how she had her two rivals to the inside under significant pressure to keep up while she was cruising. Will be hard to beat wherever she debuts.

Heat 8 – Unit Five (1st – Ciaron Maher)

Another nice 2yo from the Maher stable, this time a son of Supido. Unit Five is entered for the Magic Millions race at Caulfield on Saturday and based off his two jump-out victories he’s going to take a stack of beating. Didn’t break the clock here but love the turn-of-foot he shows when asked to quicken. Nice type.
