Summary of Best Bets

Best Bet: Race 5 - (5) Bev’s Nine

Best Value: Race 2 - (9) Blitzgal

Next Best: Race 3 - (1) Anazou

Race by race overview

Race 1

Kick things off with a maiden over 1100m. Mrs Maree leads Compensation and they can be the two to control the race. Might lean the way of Mrs Maree at the better value. She looks the leader and with Nash going on she will do at the price. High rating in one run last campaign and trialled smartly leading in, winning two heats. Leora is another that comes in with fantastic trial form, also winning her two trials this campaign. Moved well and is a key player. Compensation was good on debut, running second in a decent race. He looks a chance but does look short enough.

Selections:
(3) Mrs Maree
(7) Leora
(1) Compensation
(2) I Am Adonis

Suggested Bet: No Bet

Race 2

Big field for this maiden but there will be a couple come out at least. Tough, competitive race. Blitzgal has trialled up like a rocket leading into this contest, love the draw and love the booking of Lloyd. Should start close to favourite. Hold The Door might be the one to lead. Clark on for Waterhouse/Bott, coming off a strong winning heat when on speed. Cross from 14? In A Tizzy is another with speed, ready to peak third up at 1400m and nicely drawn. Eynesbury looks another key winning chance if here, continues to race well and must be respected. Watch Aladdin’s Girl with McDonald on from a low barrier.

Selections:
(9) Blitzgal
(5) Hold The Door
(10) In A Tizzy
(4) Eynesbury
(8) Aladdin’s Girl

Suggested Bet: Blitzgal WIN

Race 3

1200m maiden this time and plenty of acceptors, which typically means scratchings. Hellabella goes on top, looks the likely leader and should be suited by the track pattern. Fitter for a promising 1100m run first up. 1200m is still a query but it is Waterhouse stepping up. Chatterley is the big watch. If he runs, he can win despite the draw. Events looks the value and appears ready to go after three trials. Collett from barrier 4 should get the fence in behind the speed. Plenty of chances outside these.

Selections:
(1) Anazou
(10) Hellabella
(8) Chatterley
(7) Events
(12) Make Mine Moet

Suggested Bet: Anazou WIN

Race 4

The staying race of the day over 2000m. Koolibah gets McDonald and is coming off a dominant win at this trip at Doomben. She’s on the way up and looks a key winning chance again. Dolce Dior can improve back to 2000m. Pompatus has been around the mark lately and can improve at the trip, though this is a little harder.

Selections:
(7) Koolibah
(4) Dolce Dior
(5) Pompatus
(2) Kaazi

Suggested Bet: No Bet

Race 5

Kick off the quaddie with a Benchmark 94 over 1100m. Bev’s Nine is airborne and it’s no surprise McDonald sticks. Undefeated 4YO chasing six from six. Five weeks between runs but a nice mid-prep trial leading in. Brave to tip against but this is a good race. Point And Shoot can win on his day, trials this prep have been promising. Akaysha is a nice filly who needs another win, pattern makes it tricky but no shock if she gets the breaks. Cosmonova, a Group 3 placegetter, and Miss Freelove are also in the mix.

Selections:
(5) Bev’s Nine
(9) Point And Shoot
(7) Akaysha
(8) Cosmonova

Suggested Bet: Bev’s Nine WIN

Race 6

1500m Benchmark 78. Speed from the top two. Very competitive race. Leaning to No Drama, should get a lovely run on speed while main danger Wrathful likely gets back. No Drama is racing well and was good last start in Melbourne. This is easier. Wrathful will be savaging the line and may need luck from barrier 2. Aix En Provence can improve second up. Slinky rarely runs poorly.

Selections:
(2) No Drama
(5) Wrathful
(4) Aix En Provence
(10) Slinky

Suggested Bet: No Bet

Race 7

Jellicious is a classy mare with a strong first-up record. Trials were quiet but that’s typical of the stable. Draws well but does look a touch short. Ticklebelly can improve second up to 1100m after a fair fresh run at 900m. Los Padros continues to race well and must be respected. Beau Bandit, Shropshire Lad, and Xpresso all have claims.

Selections:
(1) Jellicious
(2) Ticklebelly
(5) Los Padros
(3) Beau Bandit

Suggested Bet: No Bet

Race 8

A massive field to close. Waterhouse/Bott hold a strong hand. Spanish Artist was dominant on debut at Kembla and has tactical speed. Clark on and can win again, though price is key. Stablemates Little Iris and Bubbles Up are both in the mix. Bubbles Up led and won well on debut but 1400m is a query from the wide draw. Upwardly Mobile was huge in the Northern Rivers Wild Card and strong again at Muswellbrook. He brings high ratings but has weight and an apprentice to contend with. Chispa is also in the mix with McDonald booked.

Selections:
(8) Spanish Artist
(1) Little Iris
(14) Upwardly Mobile
(3) Bubbles Up
(2) Chispa

Suggested Bet: No Bet
