The track played fine. There was plenty of pre-race chatter that the inside four lanes would be off, but once again this track did what it so often does – the exact opposite of what most punters expect. Horses closer to the inside and nearer the speed had some advantage.

ROYAL MOVER – Gollan seemed bullish about this horse pre-race, and he was right to be. It was a strong win, aided by a well-timed ride from Ryan Maloney who gave him the perfect sit just off the speed. When they all went for home, Royal Mover had that sharper turn of foot to put the race away quickly. He’s still learning and should only keep improving as he steps up in grade.

HE'S HEAVEN – I was really keen on him first-up at the Gold Coast, and that run was full of merit, but this was something else. He was let stride before the corner and just kept extending – eased down late yet still powering through the line. When he’s right, he’s a seriously good horse. Expect him to be winning again soon.
