Young gun Ethan Brown is set for a stint in Hong Kong.

The talented 26 year old revealed he received a phone call from Hong Kong Jockey Club Steward Terry Bailey about the opportunity.

The HKJC confirmed Brown will start riding in Hong Kong on April 26.

''I got a call two weeks ago from Terry Bailey and he gave me the opportunity to head over,'' Brown said.

''From now to then, it's just been working things out and finally got the tick of approval."

So after the Autumn Carnival, I'll fly out to Hong Kong on the 20th of April, I believe and [spend] been three and a half months there and yeah, looking forward to a new challenge,'' he said on Friday night.

''It's only eventuated or I've only got approval in the last 24 hours and it only got released today. So I've kept it quiet.''

Brown said he would lean on other Australian jockeys that have tried their luck in Hong Kong.

''You've got Craig [Williams] and Blake [Shinn] and Hugh Bowman's over there,'' Brown said.

''So there's plenty of experienced riders to sort of lean on and speak to.''

Brown also thanked Victorian Jockeys' Association boss Matt Hyland for making the opportunity possible.
