Turf Talk

  • Clear conditions are forecast for race day, but showers are expected in the lead-up, so the track could begin in the soft range.
  • The rail remains in the same position as last week and will be out +7m for the entire circuit.
  • The track played fairly again last week and softer conditions generally tend to produce an even racing surface at Cranbourne.

Stats that matter

  • John McArdle’s stable continues to race in strong form with 21 winners from its past 100 starters, returning a POT of +27.5%.
  • Lachlan Neindorf comes into the meeting flying after riding four winners last night. He has ridden 17 winners from his past 100 rides for a POT of +18.8%.

Race by race overview

Race 3

(6) Set Me Free was good on debut when finishing second in a handy maiden and looks to map positively here, which should suit. He can take good improvement from that first outing and looks well placed.

(7) Temu Tilly showed improvement when rising in distance last start and steps up again here.

(4) Dundiva makes her debut and her trials have been solid. She draws barrier one and appears to set up well.

(3) Charlecote Mill appreciated getting to 1600m last start and remains at that trip here tonight.

Selections:
(6) Set Me Free
(7) Temu Tilly
(4) Dundiva
(3) Charlecote Mill

Suggested Bet: (6) Set Me Free (Win)

Race 6

(2) Catwalk Icon looked slick winning first-up at Ballarat and, in a small field without much speed, she should land in a prominent position near the lead again and prove hard to catch.

(3) Eco Force has been consistent without breaking through for a win. Her two runs at this track have been handy and she should be around the mark again.

(4) Sketch resumes in easier grade here. Drawn a little wider, but in a small field she should be able to find a forward position quickly.

(7) Ania resumes and from barrier two should secure a handy position. She can be running on if the tempo is stronger than expected.

Selections:
(2) Catwalk Icon
(3) Eco Force
(4) Sketch
(7) Ania

Suggested Bet: (2) Catwalk Icon (Win)

Race 7

(3) Bold Response won in a similar set-up last start and looks to get much the same scenario again. There does not appear to be much early speed, so he can press forward, take control and prove the one to run down.

(8) Radical Dude won well on debut and looks capable of working his way through the grades. He should race positively again.

(4) The Grumpy Bear resumes and has a strong fresh record, having finished in the top three in all three of his previous first-up runs.

(1) Kyle makes his debut for a new stable and has shown he can perform at this track before.

Selections:
(3) Bold Response
(8) Radical Dude
(4) The Grumpy Bear
(1) Kyle

Suggested Bet: (3) Bold Response (Each-way)
