Did your cash? Underwood Stakes beaten jockeys give their take
Sir Delius left it late, but was impressive in victory. Hear from the beaten jockeys what they thought of their race and what it means moving forward.
Blake Shinn (Buckaroo): “He was very gallant in defeat. Had a nice run, presented to win, hit the front - probably put a half-length on the winner - but it just found back. He ran great, he’s on track for the Cups and a good effort today.”
John Allen (Smokin' Romans): “I thought he went well enough. Probably looking for further now and probably something a little bit easier but I thought he acquitted himself quite well.”
Luke Nolen (Desert Lightning): “We had a lovely run, he just failed to see the 1800 out at this level.”
Billy Egan (Casino Seventeen): “Good run. Something over a bit further and maybe a grade below, but otherwise a good run.”
Michael Dee (Land Legend): “Land Legend was great today. It’s just about getting the first half right with him, and settled, and he hit the line nicely.”
Mark Zahra (Middle Earth): “He went good, just looking for further.”
Jordan Childs (Golden Path): “Very proud of him. He ran as well as he could. He’s been beaten by two pretty good horses and he’s on the up.”
Damian Lane (Moira): “Little disappointing today. She travelled great in the run but I don’t think she let down as well on the firmer surface.”
Jamie Melham (Zardozi): “She was alright. She was just a bit flat. First-up she was really sharp and today she had a big task from how far back she was, but still a little bit flat I thought.”
Ben Melham (Anisette): “Ran OK, he’s just looking for more give in the ground.”
