The track

  • Bairnsdale is a tight-turning track with shorter home straight.
  • It's generally an advantage to be on speed and nearer the rail.
  • With ten races, those off the fence may get a better opportunity as the day goes on.
  • The track has continued to dry; expect it to get close to a Good 4.

Summary;

  • The Banker: Race 4 No.8 Rang A Round Up
  • The Bolter: Race 2 No.3 Auto Max
  • The quaddie:

Analysis:

Race 3 No.13 Normandy Lass

This filly has had a year off the scene but judging by her jump-outs she has come back in terrific order. Her work down the Cranbourne back straight most recently was outstanding, beating a couple of handy horses, and doing so under her own steam. The risk is that she's just a 'jump-out horse' but at $4.50 + I am happy to find out.

The main danger appears Unsnoozual for Matt Laurie - this son of Shamus Award has jumped-out nicely for his debut.

Race 4 No.8 Rang A Round Up

Probably should've won his last two, this bloke. He hung like a drunken sailor at Sale, largely going to the line untested in running a narrow second. I thought the jockey erred at Ballarat last start, going to slowly through the early stages, and that is evidenced by the fact he was back in front past the post. He leads for fun here and should take a stack of catching.

Dangers: Clydebank Robber (but he's a 47-start maiden) and Lovenne (didn't have a lot of luck last start).
