Race Horse Comment
R8/3 Crepe Myrtle Best Bet – Progressive mare who finds a suitable race dropping in grade.
R5/6 Hereward Next Best – Well placed first up off strong trial, maps for perfect run.
R2/2 Maximum Ride Best EW – Big odds, trialled well and maps to lead. Each-way play.

Turf Talk:

  • True Entire – with the dry track and rail true, I expect a very even track with tempo likely to dictate overall.

Race 2

As easy as you’ll find a provincial race on a Thursday — a maiden handicap for the 4yo+ horses. (2) Maximum Ride has come up big odds here, happy to attack the race with him each-way. Solid recent trial in good time and should land on speed from the draw. (1) Prize Writer is the horse to beat — solid recent trial but looks under the odds. Miss Molly Rocket hit the line impressively on debut when ridden quiet; she strips fitter for that experience and looks well placed here. (4) Oakfield Mars is next best.

Selections:
(2) Maximum Ride
(1) Prize Writer
(3) Miss Molly Rocket
(4) Oakfield Mars
Suggested Bet: Maximum Ride EW

Race 5

Race of the day with three progressive types engaged. The David Payne-trained (6) Hereward looks very well placed first up coming off one very strong event trial. He maps to get a smart trail in transit and should be winning. (12) Lambertina has been very impressive in the trials, ridden out in the last in what was a hot heat overall. Maps to land on speed and is the danger. Good Hotspur has solid form lines from last prep but does have to overcome a sticky gate.

Selections:
(6) Hereward
(12) Lambertina
(5) Good Hotspur
(11) Kumbaya
Suggested Bet: Hereward WIN

Race 8

Keen to side with the progressive (3) Crepe Myrtle in the last. The 4yo mare finds herself in the Pride yard this time in and comes through a hot first-up race behind Lyles. Strips fitter and drops back in grade — keen. (6) Still Alice is the danger, smart draw and comes off a career-peak last start effort at Newcastle. Outside of that, (1) Gold Card and (2) Boomtown Chat have place claims at solid odds.

Selections:
(3) Crepe Myrtle
(6) Still Alice
(1) Gold Card
(2) Boomtown Chat
Suggested Bet: Crepe Myrtle WIN
