Race No. Horse Overview
R3 10 Gold Topaz Ran well up in grade last start, suited back at country level
R5 1 Oxford Blue Resuming down in grade with an ideal map and conditions

Turf Talk:

  • Rated a Soft 5 on race morning with showers forecast. Warmer temperatures and minimal rainfall expected should keep the track in the Soft range.
  • Rail is in the True position and the track should play fairly.

The stats that matter:

  • Caitlin Jones is in solid form with recent metro wins and rides this track particularly well with a 21.8% winning strike rate and a +37.2% POT.
  • Local trainer Darryl Dodson continues to perform strongly with 16 winners from his last 100 starters at a +37.1% POT.

Race 3 No.10 Gold Topaz

GOLD TOPAZ drops sharply in grade after running a solid fourth at Flemington in Listed company last start. He hit the line strongly over 1800m there so the rise to 2000m holds no fears. This is a significant class drop and while he will start short, he looks extremely well placed.

Race 5 No.1 Oxford Blue

OXFORD BLUE resumes today following some handy trial work. This is a clear drop in grade from the races he contested last preparation and he maps for a favourable run. Drawn to push forward and be prominent, and assisted by the claim for in form apprentice Alysha Warren, he looks very well suited.
